Understanding the life-or-death importance of prompt and effective neonatal resuscitation, Laura Lebanik took it upon themselves to design and implement a comprehensive NRP training program tailored specifically to the unique needs of FSEDs.
It is with great honor and admiration that I nominate Laura Lebanik for the DAISY Award in recognition of their exceptional commitment to improving neonatal care and advancing the skills and confidence of healthcare professionals. Through their outstanding leadership in the development and implementation of Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) training for free-standing emergency departments (FSEDs), Laura Lebanik has made a lasting impact on both local and national levels. Her efforts have not only elevated clinical practice but have also led to improved neonatal outcomes across the communities served by emergency departments.

NRP Training for Free-Standing Emergency Departments (FSEDs): Laura Lebanik identified a critical gap in training for healthcare professionals working in free-standing emergency departments who lacked consistent access to NRP education. Understanding the life-or-death importance of prompt and effective neonatal resuscitation, Laura Lebanik took it upon themselves to design and implement a comprehensive NRP training program tailored specifically to the unique needs of FSEDs. This initiative has not only increased the confidence of healthcare providers but has also contributed to better patient outcomes, improving the overall quality of care for newborns and their families.

National Presentation to the American Academy of Pediatrics: Recognizing the broader implications of their work, Laura Lebanik was invited to present at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) conference in Orlando 2024. The presentation focused on the importance of equipping healthcare professionals in emergency departments with the skills and knowledge needed for neonatal resuscitation, particularly in settings such as free-standing emergency departments. Laura Lebanik shared evidence-based insights on how NRP training programs can increase provider confidence, streamline clinical decision-making, and ultimately improve neonatal survival rates.

Laura is an outstanding nurse whose contributions have had a profound impact on the quality of care in neonatal resuscitation and emergency care. Her tireless work in providing NRP training, along with their ability to inspire and educate healthcare professionals, has made a meaningful difference in neonatal outcomes across the board. For their leadership, vision, and compassionate commitment to improving patient care, Laura is highly deserving of the DAISY Award.
