Laura has been my nurse the past two nights and she has been my light in what has been two of the hardest nights of my life. She has gone above and beyond in every way imaginable to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. After a traumatic reaction to anesthesia and two agonizing days of trying to get my pain under control and being unable to urinate, I finally broke down as my exhaustion and pain caught up with me. And there she was with open arms and a huge hug to let me cry on her shoulder. Years of being in and out of the hospital and dealing with a progressive diagnosis caught up with me this night, and I sobbed at the unfairness of it all. She spent so much time with me, went on a walk with me, got my pain under control, and reassured me what a strong person I was and what a great job I was doing. Her compassion will stay with me, and I will not forget how she healed me, physically and emotionally. She defines everything a nurse should be. And I am eternally grateful. How lucky BayCare is to have her representing them.
