I was admitted to HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital with a ruptured appendix. I was in a lot of pain and scared. Lauree was the first nurse to get me settled and the last to wheel me out when discharged. The 8 days in between were filled with procedures, surgeries, pain management, and ups and downs. She filled those days with empathy, compassion, humor (lots), attention to detail, advocacy, going above and beyond, and providing the utmost care.

I always looked forward to her shift and hated when she was off duty. I know she was busy with other patients, but she always made me feel special and cared for. My recovery would not have been the same without her. It made all the difference! Her impact will always be remembered with gratitude and love. I’ll try not to make a habit of landing in the hospital, but if I do, I hope she’ll be there!
