Lauren consistently meets all of the DAISY criteria as an outstanding nurse and outstanding role model. The most exceptional events for Lauren are the high-quality and compassionate care she provides for our Hispanic population. Lauren is the only bi-lingual nurse on our unit. Just recently she spent countless hours with an Hispanic couple that were having their first child and were nervous and scared to death having to care for a newborn baby. Lauren went above and beyond educating, mentoring and assuring that they were comfortable with the care of a newborn prior to being discharged, using her knowledge of evidenced based practice (5 Star Service).

Not only does Lauren demonstrate clinical excellence in her every day practice, she maintains certification in her area of specialty (IN-Patient OB), is going to college to complete her MSN and Family Nurse Practitioner program. Her commitment to nursing excellence is demonstrated by being the first RN to complete the Professional Portfolio, the first to resubmit the next year, and having an article published in Nursing Leadership journal. Lauren is currently mentoring a Wesley College Nursing student and consistently mentors the nursing staff as a Clinical Coordinator.

Lauren is a wonderful patient advocate and devotes tremendous amounts of her practice to the Hispanic patient when they are a patient on the Women’s Services and Children’s Departments at Bayhealth Medical Center – Milford campus.
