Not only was she very informative and caring in her speech, but she also made me feel like we were in this together. She made me feel like she was fighting for me.
I have dealt with breathing problems my entire life, and this is the first experience I have had with hospitalization. I started at Urgent Care, thinking it would be the usual chest x-ray and antibiotics. I was instead referred to the ER and then admitted. This quickly became an emotional roller coaster as I thought I'd only be here overnight. I live alone, and my closest family members are four and a half hours away. Lauren Harless saw me at my worst. I had many ups & downs these last three days, thinking I was going home and then being told they found a new bacterial infection in my lungs. She didn't get to see my positivity when I first arrived. Instead, she got me after I had been broken and distraught by the news. I was feeling lonely and terrified without my family. Not only was she very informative and caring in her speech, but she also made me feel like we were in this together. She made me feel like she was fighting for me. I will forever remember the moment she burst into the room and said, "You're getting discharged!” She was as happy as I was. She was excellent in the physical aspect of the job, but what I will remember most is her compassion. She may have her own personality, but she looks and acts like my daughter-in-law's best friend. I believe this was God's way of bringing a bit of connection to my family, who were far away. People get into professions for different reasons, such as what they know from previous family, money, or even opportunity. But I can tell she's in it for the right reasons. She cares. I hope I never have this medical experience again, but if I do, I pray that God will send me another Lauren.
