I do not believe Lauren was assigned as my mother's official primary nurse, but she spent a great deal of time and effort taking care of her as the ED was so busy. She didn't have to give my mother the time and care that she did, but she did it because it was evident that the patient comes first for her. She was so considerate, compassionate and caring with my Mom. She helped us with our questions about where we were in the process of figuring out what was wrong, she spoke to the doctor as an advocate for her patient, helping us make our way through the medical jargon, she brought her warm blankets, got her fluids by oral and IV, she was there every step of the way walking us through a scary time as we were concerned that my Mom had had a mini-stroke. The ED is a hectic place and she made us feel like my Mom was important to her and would take great care of her. My father and I were impressed with her clinical and humanitarian bearing as a nurse.
