Lauren didn't complain about all the PPE she needed to don. She offered me company, "would I like to play a card game?"
I was pregnant and was tested for COVID-19. My partner had to leave the hospital and I was in isolation. I was scared for my safety. I was lonely. I was terrified of what a potentially positive result could mean for my baby. Would he be in isolation and not feel human touch his first week of life? Throughout the several days, it took to get my results, I felt more scared and alone. Lauren was my nurse for one shift, she checked on me often. She didn't complain about all the PPE she needed to don. She offered me company, "would I like to play a card game?" After my negative result came in, she came to check on me and congratulate the things that could go right. Thank you, Lauren!
