This RN exemplifies the kind of nurse that the patients & families as well as the Nurses, Physicians, and other members of the Interdisciplinary team recognize as an outstanding role model. The following is an example of his/her patient care, highlighting the care and compassion she provides every day.
Laurie is an incredible nurse who consistently goes above and beyond to support and develop her colleagues. She is an expert in endoscopy and this expertise is admired and respected by her nursing and physician colleagues. Laurie role model’s professionalism, in all her actions and communications and has a unique ability to remain calm and in control in times of stress and or challenging situations. Laurie’s “can do” attitude is appreciated by all who work with her, and she consistently demonstrates empathy, compassion, and positivity. Laurie proactively volunteered, to move from Eastside clinic to NW Endoscopy in May 2022, when we were faced with a critical Endoscopy procedure staffing situation. She embraced the challenge, and actively collaborated with nursing leadership to ensure a successful clinical support, education, and recruitment plan was established and enacted.
Her contribution to the successful turnaround of this NW Endoscopy department needs to be acknowledged, as her presence on site every day provided the expert clinical leadership, and stability needed for staff to feel safe, supported, and nurtured while also achieving best practice patient care standards and high-level decontamination safety standards. Thank you, Laurie, for being such an excellent nurse and role model.
