Leah has been taking care of our family member since he was admitted to the ICU. She has become his favorite nurse and the nurse whom he responds to the best. She has always called him by name, has talked to him even when he was sedated and on a vent. She never talks about him, now that he is awake and aware, in the room without including him in the discussion which has become a huge source of frustration for him lately. She goes above and beyond everyday. She even takes the time to wash his hair, trim his beard, and advocate for him since he hasn’t been able to speak. Even when he could nod yes and no, she spoke up to make his wishes known and treatments initiated for him. She is always cheerful and takes the time to try and make him laugh or cheer him up when he’s feeling down or overwhelmed. She encourages him and I’m grateful that she has been his nurse throughout this difficult time. Leah Anzualda has been such a positive, encouraging, and supportive nurse. I know if he could nominate her he would, Leah deserves to be recognized!
