Recently I was in the hospital on two separate occasions. During my first stay at Mercy Gilbert, I had the great pleasure of having Leah as my nurse for three days. Each day she performed her duties at a high level and provided excellent care. On my return to the hospital the following week, I returned to the fourth floor and I specifically asked if Leah could be my nurse because of the previous excellent care she provided to me.

During this stay I had to have an infusion that required a nurse to monitor me during the time the infusion was given. Leah volunteered to sit with me, even though she had worked her entire 12 hour shift. The infusion finished about 11:30 pm and she was with me the entire time! She attended to my every need, above and beyond my expectations, making sure I was comfortable and not having any reaction to the chemo treatment. After putting in 16 hours that day, Leah returned the next morning at 7:30 am to begin her next shift. She came in with a positive attitude with the same passion toward her responsibilities.

Prior to my retirement, I managed a department with 132 employees. I constantly looked for employees that had passion, dedication and a strong work ethic. Leah has all these qualities and she demonstrated them every day she took care of me.

Leah's dedication, passion and heartfelt care for her patients goes beyond what one might expect to receive while in the hospital, and this is also evident when she speaks about her career as a nurse.
