Patient was admitted with AMS and had parapherisis after a fall at home and needed an MRI to R/O nerve compression. The patient went down to MRI but couldn't lay still to complete exam. The next day, Leanne Chau, RN spent a lot of time talking with the patient and her family, reassuring her and trying to relax her. Upon arrival in MRI, Leanne decided that it would be best if she stayed with her patient to reduce her anxiety and help her to relax and lay still. Not only did Leanne sit in the MRI room with her patient but she sang to her the entire time. The procedure was completed. Later in the day, the patient's husband asked to speak to me (charge nurse) to compliment Leanne. He said she was an excellent nurse, extremely caring and patient toward his wife, and was very touched by her personal touch in calming her with singing. This exemplified what nursing is and a wonderful example of compassionate care.
