My dad had kidney removal surgery, due to cancer. After surgery, his three-day hospital stay turned into 20, due to complications. With all the uncertainties facing my dad, our family had many anxious moments. Lenore and her caring spirit compelled us to recognize her. I personally cannot say enough about how her calm and reassuring manner, as well as the time she took to explain things happening with my dad, put our minds at ease.
On one occasion, Lenore went well over and above the scope of her duties; my dad was put on a No Fat diet, and his options were extremely limited. My dad was pretty discouraged, and he was having trouble eating the things he was able to eat. Lenore took time on her lunch to purchase a bowl of fresh fruit from one of the hospital markets and brought it back for my dad. She felt that if it looked appealing, he might be more inclined to eat it. As a daughter, who loves her dad very much, this was very kind and showed how Lenore really cares for the whole patient.
During some of my dad's physical setbacks, which were beyond his control, Lenore showed such compassion and understanding that even though he had many concerns relating to his physical issues, he needed to keep his spirits up. She encouraged and assisted my dad with making sure he was ambulating regularly and keeping up with hygienic needs, showing him such dignity and respect.
