...She is kind, caring, intelligent, and compassionate. Leslie has a gentle and loving personality. Leslie keeps her composure under stress and maintains a positive atmosphere. I have witnessed Leslie talking directly into the ear of a hard of hearing patient as she explains the procedure she is about to do. Leslie takes the time to get to know her patients personally to establish trust and confidence.
Leslie is an inspiring nurse. She frequently takes the role of mentor to newly hired staff. Her knowledge base mixed with empathy for others allows her to provide care in such a way that the patients speak of her name as a top performer even if it was several days ago that she was their nurse. She frequently receives kudo notes from her peers and supervisors for the excellent team work and nursing care.
Leslie's ability to put patients at ease is stunning. She treats others with respect and gentle kindness. Leslie goes above and beyond to provide care. Recently I watched as Leslie calmed a patient who was confused with dementia. She spoke softly as she attempted to orient the patient and keep him safe.
Leslie also serves as a leader in our Unit Partnership Council. She thinks outside the box and keeps up with current best practices. It is my pleasure to nominate Leslie for the DAISY Award as I feel she is an extraordinary nurse.
