Leslie consistently demonstrates an unwavering passion for nursing that inspires both patients and colleagues. Her enthusiasm is evident in every aspect of her daily work, from providing compassionate bedside care to championing innovative practices that enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction. Leslie is the chair of our perioperative unit council, she continuously works with our perioperative nursing team to improve nursing workflow, patient outcome, and patient experience. CCH perioperative team completed the first ambulatory total hip arthroplasty in NYP enterprise. Leslie is a great contributor to this successful surgical expansion at CCH. She is one of the providers that took care of the patient. She ensured the patient and family members had amazing care during the time. The patient and family member expressed their gratitude to CCH perioperative team.

In addition, Leslie is an active member of our BMH local patient experience committee. She always on the frontline of providing service recovery when circumstances needed. In 2023, Leslie was one of the superuser for our epic text message system. This implementation was a great success and improved our OAS CAPHS scores. Due to the success, Leslie presented this initiative during our Nurses’ week poster parade. Moreover, this initiative is one of our BMH magnet stories. Leslie is an excellent mentor for new team members and provide ongoing support after orientation. In addition, she mentored nursing students and shared her knowledge and skills. She always provides a comfortable learning environment and assures she is always available for support. Many team members expressed their appreciation to Leslie’s support and is grateful to be part of our team.

Furthermore, Leslie engages herself in lifelong learning, she is considering advancing her education by obtaining master’s degree in nursing. Leslie’s commitment and passion for our community extends beyond our hospital all. During her vacation, Leslie decided to cancel her vacation and volunteer at Chips’. This volunteer experience ties in with the NYP In Your Community initiatives to work closely with the communities served by NYP. CHiPS is a food pantry and full-service soup kitchen open six days a week, based in the Park Slope/Gowanus, Brooklyn. Their mission is to eliminate food insecurity and homelessness in New York City. During the volunteering time, Leslie assisted the organization by preparing breakfast bags, which included pastry and fresh fruit. She also cut up fresh fruit to hand out to the many patrons who sought assistance on that hot June day. We truly believe Leslie deserves the DAISY Award. Her passionate care for our patients, commitment to professional development, and contribution to our community.
