Lezzette is one of the nurses whom I trust in any situation. She is reliable and an amazing preceptor. She is a great advocate for her patients and speaks up when it's concerning. In one instance, the patient had refused a PEG tube, and the patient was at risk for aspiration. The doctor wanted to let the patient go home without addressing the risk the patient was taking by eating by mouth. She explained to the doctor the situation, and the doctor did not address it, just let the patient know that she had be careful while eating. The next day, the NP saw the patient with Lezzette, and they convinced the patient to get a PEG tube and addressed the risks. The patient was safely discharged home with their PEG tube. I commend Lezzette for persisting and advocating for patient safety; she truly is a DAISY Nurse.
