Amy has an empathetic and compassionate heart that is evident in the patient care that she gives, especially to her ostomy patients. Many times, these patients are overwhelmed and not able to process instructions but Amy gives her time until the patients feel confident and comfortable caring for their own ostomy. She even gives out her personal phone number if the patient has questions or problems. She has even gone to surgery before her shift begins to help a surgeon mark the area. She works extra for the department and always keeps a sunny disposition. Many wound patients ask for Amy to care for them. I heard an ostomy patient say, "I didn't think I could have gotten through if it hadn't been for Amy". Amy is a valuable asset to the unit and to KCH and it is a pleasure and honor to work alongside her.
