Liliana Badertscher is by far one of the most exquisite nurses North Memorial has ever seen. We were triage together, and we had a Spanish-speaking patient who had come in for chest pain. The patient had just moved to Minnesota from Ecuador and was notably anxious and scared about the whole scenario. Liliana did everything right by that patient. Noticing how scared the patient was, Liliana made sure to keep that patient in one of our triage rooms until there were absolutely no more triage rooms to take initial assessments. Liliana kept the Spanish interpreter on the Proprio until we had to move the patient out in case they needed anything. Liliana consistently checked in on the patient to make sure they were comfortable and calm, all while triaging and assessing the other patients. She brought that patient warm blankets, water, and anything they needed to feel less scared, and even massaged her arms and hands. By the time we had to move that patient out, you could see the difference in their face, and they were noticeably less scared when they came in. When patients come into the emergency department, they are usually scared and vulnerable, but this patient was so incredibly lucky to have Liliana Badertscher as their nurse because it doesn’t get much better than that.
