This nurse’s calm and professional manner really helped both of us calm down and relax, which is exactly what we both needed.
My dad was rushed to the ER because he was so short of breath that he could barely get two words out. It was an incredibly stressful time for us as we rushed to the hospital. They told us he would be moved to a room in ICU – a first for us here at Boswell. We have been on many floors and many units, but I can honestly say that this RN has been the kindest nurse we have ever had the pleasure of working with! She went out of her way to make sure my dad was comfortable and left late because she was trying to make sure he got some dinner. (He moved to the room and got his dietary orders at just the wrong time to make it work out with dietary.)
She was amazing with his bloodwork – so gentle and really paid attention to how he was doing during the process. He hates the bloodwork, and she was reassuring and quick, so he didn’t dwell on the discomfort.
This nurse’s calm and professional manner really helped both of us calm down and relax, which is exactly what we both needed. I really appreciated her attention to detail and obvious skill. She is truly a blessing, and what a wonderful place for her to work. I can only imagine how many families she has helped in the ICU as she demonstrates such a caring and calming manner. I wanted to make sure and let others know how very much we appreciated her throughout this time! She is a treasure!
By the way, it appeared she was also mentoring a newer ICU nurse, and she was so encouraging to her as well.
Thank you for being there when we needed you! I forgot – she even searched through the linens to find his missing phone – it was tangled in the ER sheets.
Note: This is Linda's 2nd DAISY Award!
