Ms. Linda is not just an asset to her patients; she is also a valuable asset to us as her colleagues and of course SLU-SHMC. She’s there to support us, to offer a kind word or a helping hand as a mentor, and an excellent team player as she was the seasoned nurse in the department.
In one of my conversations with a patient's watcher, she complimented one of my staff. She praised her for her kindness and warmth, especially while caring for a differently-abled patient from admission until the patient went through surgery. This same nurse was also praised by our surgeons, anesthesiologist, and other OR team members for her efficiency and her willingness to go beyond expectations.
Being an immediate head in my department, these stories are not new to me; it is thereby my job to share with you the stories of our unsung hero in the Operating Room like that of our very own Ms. Linda Durante.
As nurses, we aren’t just expected to administer medicine and the like. Amidst the technical jargon and the limiting confines of a hospital, we provide human connection—understanding, kindness, and overall hope.
I hope to share the untold stories of my fellow nurses going far and beyond their work. Her spirit and dedication uplift us, making our collective burden lighter, and our shared passion stronger.
And so, it is with great pride and admiration that I recommend Ms. Linda Durante for the DAISY Award. Her exceptional care, patience, and unwavering dedication serve as a reminder of what we all strive to be as nurses.
