I have metastatic breast cancer which is in my left pelvis, my T2, T10, L2, and L5 spine. While in the hospital, they took an MRI of my right shoulder because of the terrible pain I was in. The oncologist confirmed that the cancer had spread to my shoulder. Lindsay took the time to talk to me and comfort me at a very difficult time. I said, "well you have to look at it as there is always someone worse off than you. And just be grateful that it wasn't a major organ." Lindsay said I should not feel just lucky because there is always someone worse off than myself. She said I need to allow myself to grieve about the spread of the cancer to my shoulder and how it was going to impact my life. Then to move on from there. I realized this would help me cope with moving forward. I am forever grateful for Lindsay's wisdom, compassion and the time she spent with me. She helped me cope. Lindsay is truly a wonderful nurse and deserves to be recognized.
