Lindsay is a great charge nurse, preceptor, and RN coworker. I recently had a patient in a room who was a "social placement". I was assigned as the PCT and Lindsay was precepting that day. This patient was very agitated and constantly yelled and cursed at staff members. I like to think I am good at working with difficult patients, but it didn't matter how many times I repositioned him every 5 minutes, provided personal care or obtained whatever he was requesting, he continued to yell and curse.
Lindsay helped me with this patient throughout the day. Setting limits on his behavior, like no cursing and calling staff members names, while offering him choices to make him feel more in control (he preferred finger foods). Lindsay effectively set limits and calmed him at the same time so he could actually rest, stop yelling and talk to staff with respect. I had tried, but Lindsay is a very effective nurse and communicator! All this while also doing an amazing job precepting. It is always a joy to work with Lindsay!
