There are so many personal connections and memories from our time having this team of professionals aiding and assisting Dad and us as he fought. We will forever be indebted and so genuinely grateful for the care, compassion, wisdom, and warmth provided.
My dad passed away at home. This DAISY Award nomination is long overdue, and for that I sincerely apologize. This late submission does not in any way diminish the immense gratitude, thankfulness, awe, and genuine appreciation we all have for the incredible care that my dad received from his extraordinary team of hospice care professionals who visited him daily during the final stages of his battle. Our entire family wishes to highlight the thoughtful, unwavering, dependable and comforting attention that dad was given while under home hospice care.
Over the weeks and months of receiving this care, Dad and his wife got to know Lindsey. She provided care, support, companionship, guidance, assurance, and so much more, and that meant a great deal. Her presence put Dad at ease, which was priceless, and the rest of the family felt confident and assured that he was in very good hands, receiving specialized care and attention. Mom always felt a bit of relief after each visit because it reassured her that she was doing everything she could in the hours between visits. Lindsey quickly became a friendly, familiar face and valued visitor to our home.
In the very early hours of the morning, just after Dad passed, Lindsey made the long drive from her home in Iowa to join the family at the house to provide more support and care. We were all in such pain and grief, but we were so grateful to have her there. She assisted the young man from the funeral home in preparing Dad’s body to be moved to the hearse. She was so gentle and caring, and I was truly moved by the manner in which she did her work. There are so many personal connections and memories from our time having this team of professionals aiding and assisting Dad and us as he fought. We will forever be indebted and so genuinely grateful for the care, compassion, wisdom, and warmth provided.
It is difficult to find the appropriate words to convey how grateful the entire family is to the entire Hospice staff at Mayo Clinic in La Crosse. We will forever be indebted to Lindsey’s kindness and genuineness. Thank you so much for your care and service. You are wonderful and amazing people. With the highest of regards, and forever grateful.
Note: This is Lindsey's 2nd DAISY Award!
