I have been a nurse for 7 years, and Lisa Creel exceeded all expectations I had when I entered the hospital in active labor. I delivered a beautiful baby boy without complications. Hours after delivery, I was scheduled for transfer from L&D to postpartum with Lisa assigned as my nurse. She was very helpful from the beginning and I was 100% confident in her nursing skills. She stayed with me, cleaned me up, helped me walk, and made sure I had everything I needed. She was a good nurse, but what makes her a great nurse is the true compassion she showed to me during a tragic time I will never forget.
After the physician examined my son, he found potentially fatal abnormality if not treated asap. I was informed that my son would be transferred to a NICU at another hospital 40 miles away without me. I was absolutely heartbroken and alone when I was told this news. I had a true feeling of hopelessness. Lisa came to me immediately and provided support beyond anything I could ever expect from a nurse. Her face showed the true sympathy she felt for me and she did everything in her power to make it easier for me. She helped make calls, and called my OB/Gyn to get medication to help me remain calm. She assisted me in packing my items so that I could be discharged as soon as possible to be with my son. I know I was not the only patient Lisa had, but she made me feel that I was. I cried on her shoulder and will never forget how she helped me and my family.
I learned what it is to be a compassionate, caring nurse and hope that I can be half the nurse and support she was for me.
