Countless times I have witnessed Lisa provide exceptional care. One time I witnessed Lisa gently encourage a patient who was in great emotional distress by saying, "We are not here to judge you. We are on your side and want to help you." The patient wept tears of relief as Lisa hugged her neck. I have witnessed Lisa going above and beyond for patients to provide them with education, emotional support equipment and standing up for their rights. I can truly say that her care comes straight from her heart and as a younger nurse, this is something I strongly admire in her.
Not only is she excellent with patients, but she has been very influential in my nursing career over the past year. Seeing Lisa's dedication to stand up for what is right and also to willingly lend her hands to help her fellow nurses is truly inspirational. Once, Lisa realized that one of my patients was about to be in trouble just by glancing at the monitor and she jumped right in to help me care for the patient before I even realized what was happening. Lisa has a special touch, not only as a nurse but as a person in general. She makes everyone feel like a "somebody" whether they are in housekeeping, a patient's family member, or a "newer" nurse like I am. She greets everyone with a smile and kind word. I hope to find myself with the special touch Lisa has as a nurse one day. The knowledge, confidence, compassion and positive energy that she brings is inspiring. I am so blessed to have been able to work alongside her.
