Lisa is the perfect example of a DAISY Nurse. She has an extraordinary ability to connect with the veterans, all of whom know her by name and request nursing visits by her. She has an uncanny ability to meet the veterans where they are at in life and not push them. Even those tough veterans who don't want folks meddling in their lives have accepted Lisa. She is alwayswillingto go into the homes of veterans even though the situation is less than desirable. She is an awesome co-worker, responsive and most willing to help out. I know that I can trust her to make the right assessment and connect the veteran to care when no one else can; what a wonderful patient advocate! One day, I received a phone call from a neighbor of a veteran who was in distress. I asked Lisa if she was willing to go to thisveteran'shome and assess his needs. She did not hesitate, saying, "Sure. I will." Within the hour, Lisa and another co-worker met with this veteran and offered encouragement. Finally, the veteran agreed to come to the ER for an evaluation. Lisa followed up with him the next day. Her willingness to react immediately and her commitment to taking care of veterans is amazing!
