On her day off, Lisa came back to the hospital and brought my mom ice cream sandwiches (her favorite) in hopes that she would eat (and she did).
My mom started on this floor Thursday. Although she had many outstanding nurses, one for sure stood out and that was Lisa. She made my mom feel safe, loved, and cared for. She listened not only to her but to me as well. She understood my mom's needs and cared enough to listen and act on them. I knew my mom's time on this Earth was coming to an end soon, but Lisa made her last few days at Mercy (before going to Hospice) meaningful.
On her day off, Lisa came back to the hospital and brought my mom ice cream sandwiches (her favorite) in hopes that she would eat (and she did). She also heard me say one day how much I loved M&M's and she brought those to me. Lisa is beyond her daily nursing duties, she is a true human being who goes beyond her job title. After my mom's passing two weeks later, the last person I saw at her visitation was Lisa. She was a sight to see and comfort. Lisa is the best and is the nurse that Mercy should be lucky to have.
