Lori would talk to my brother as if she knew him forever, she asked about his likes and dislikes, so if no one was around she would adjust the TV to his channels.
My 51-year-old brother was admitted to the hospital after having a cardiac arrest. He was then sent to the ICU after the ER and paramedics had restarted his heart several minutes after he had lost many minutes of oxygen. The signs were not looking good for my brother as severe brain damage had occurred.

We have a pretty big family, so he had quite a few visitors coming in and out. So many with the same questions, or different questions. Lori always answered without hesitation the same questions and with a smile on her face. She was explaining everything she would do for my brother anytime she entered the room after she said hello to the family. She would have a smile on her face and not once complained about anything. She would talk to my brother as if she knew him forever, she asked about his likes and dislikes, so if no one was around she would adjust the TV to his channels. These are little things for a person, even if her patient had no idea he was even in a hospital. His critical care on life support is important to us, I honestly felt like when we would leave for the evening he was definitely going to be taken care of genuinely. She gave the personal, professional, and compassionate care, like he was her brother. We never once doubted walking away, would his care be neglected? I truly believe an RN like herself should be recognized for an outstanding beside manner and a genuine compassion for care, especially for critical care patients. Her professional career and understanding for the ill goes above and beyond. Wellstar Douglas Hospital is lucky to have her as a valuable Registered Nurse.
