My mother was transferred to UNMC from another hospital, very, very ill with C-Diff. Once settled into the first room, nurses were alarmed by her heart rate and immediately mom was moved to another room and floor—this is where we met Lori and chaos began.
I had no idea what was happening. There were so many people, including urgent direction from Dr. B. Lori came up to me right away and started talking to me, explaining the situation, even though things were really bad and mom was trying to leave us. Lori motioned to Dr. B and again mom was moved in urgency to critical ICU.
Still staying with me, Lori kept talking to me, speaking in short sentences, making sure I was okay, even though I was in a panic. Her verbiage, her calmness, her personality were all outstanding. Her caring continued on. Mom was hospitalized for many days, yet even though mom was not Lori’s patient, she still continued to find me and talk. She was like a family member, again making sure I was okay and if I needed anything. So many different nurses were outstanding and understanding, but Lori will always have a place in my heart for her genuine concern and caring.
We lost mom at UNMC and we don’t regret anything, as she had the best of the best. Thank you for giving us Lori. Please let her know how much she means to us.
