You would never know that there is a stigma around mental illness because of the respect she offers those who have lost their own respect. One individual in particular comes to mind.

This man has spent most of his adult life in prison. He doesn't know how to live outside of that structure. For three months, when he was no longer her patient, she continued to be a safe person for him with a safe place to come to. Her relationship of trust with a very troubled man demonstrated her integrity and commitment. She was his advocate with police, his parole officer, his psychiatrists, and his workman's comp insurance. Such caring excellence!
