Luisa was our nurse when we came to deliver our daughter. We found out that she had lost her heartbeat just hours before arriving at Overlook. I was induced and delivered 2 days later. My husband and I were heartbroken and terrified during our time in L&D. The entire team was so wonderful to us, but we were struck by the genuine compassion exhibited by Luisa. She was calm, attentive, and kind.
Luisa personally saw to my needs and anticipated, listened or observed to make sure those were met. She was warm with both of us and gracious with our family as well. She made sure to check on my husband too. She did not let their grieving dad get overlooked. This baby is our first child. We were stunned by her loss and are still just trying to cope. But the beautiful care given by Luisa made out first birthing experience a loving one. Luisa made me feel capable, strong, and human. She made sure I felt like the mother and that by far is what I am most grateful for.
