This Nurse has made an incredible impact to patients and families since her arrival, she has reinstituted the flame of passion into nurses which directly affects the patients and their families.
On a daily basis she evokes comments from nurses:
"In all my many years of nursing, I have never met and worked with a more incredible advocate for patient/family care via promoting the nursing staff to excellence. She is very involved and in the forefront of making things happen for the betterment of the whole system. Her determination and passion for her profession is obvious and shines daily with her calm and comforting manner. She has made herself available to all staff, family and makes a difference to all on a day to day basis."
"She has made a significant impact in patient care and helped implement team hourly rounding on the medical surgical unit, 4 West at Summerlin Hospital. This has greatly decreased call lights on this unit and has brought patient complaints to a minimum. She provided support and guidance to all staff members. Patients are now receiving more patient/family centered care because of her passion for this style of nursing care.
"She leads by example and makes a positive influence in patient care by honoring and supporting those who provide patient care. I have never been so proud to be a nurse at Summerlin Hospital. I am able to provide better care because she has created positive environment and makes me want to be a better nurse".
Patients and families have reported her taking time to call family members who are out of state and follow through with helping to coordinate care for their ill mother, dealing with an oncology patient's daughter and following through with daily visits and calls to ensure everything was happening as they had planned.
"She models positive, pro-active behavior. She doesn't wait for anyone to do things for her. She just gets creative, works hard and figures it out for our patients, families and nurses."
Having family/patient advocates be a part of the planning of new service lines, her unending passion for nurses to be the best they can so that families and patients receive the best care. Making their visit the best outcome they can have is something that should never falter and in this busy world nurses need someone like Lynn Belcher to inspire them.
