She sat with me while the anesthesia wore off, and it was comforting to have someone familiar there, as my family couldn’t be there.
Mackenzie was my night shift nurse when I was admitted. She was kind and caring, asking questions to understand what I was going through. I was discharged but was readmitted a day later. I ended up having a rapid response called on me, and I needed an emergency hysterectomy. I wasn’t awake when I returned to the room, and it was night shift when I finally woke up. Mackenzie was my nurse again; she remembered me from my previous admission and was very sympathetic and sincere in checking on me when I woke up. She sat with me while the anesthesia wore off, and it was comforting to have someone familiar there, as my family couldn’t be there. She spoon-fed me applesauce so I could take my medication; she did it with such kindness and understanding. It was already a hard and vulnerable situation for me, but having someone so compassionate there to care for me really helped me feel at ease. Mackenzie’s kindness and compassionate care made her one of the standout nurses during my stay, and she is someone I will always remember for showing me so much grace during such a difficult time.
