She was more than a nurse to us; she was our friend, and I would say she was an angel sent from heaven at a very, very confusing and stressful time.
My partner was taken to the ICU from the rehab unit. It was very stressful since he was supposed to be discharged in a few days and then developed sepsis. Mac was his nurse for two days while he was there and watched over him, helped feed him to make sure he was eating, and kept me informed of his condition after I left. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me and to him, as he knows I was unable to be by his side. When I left the hospital, I didn’t have to worry as Mac was there to calm him down and take care of him. He had to go for a procedure, and she explained it in terms I could understand and helped calm my nerves. She also took care of me when she saw I was scared and upset. Mac was very reassuring and patient with me. My partner has vision problems, and she was very helpful with that and explained things to him when he asked what he was seeing. She was very kind and just overall very reassuring and made both of us feel at ease knowing that we were in good hands. It was evident that she cared about both of us.
