I am very grateful for Maddie, for her kindness, for her knowledge, for her experience, for her compassion, and for her leadership during this difficult experience.I am very grateful for Maddie, for her kindness, for her knowledge, for her experience, for her compassion, and for her leadership during this difficult experience.
I went on my lunch break down to the cafeteria, and suddenly and unexpectedly, I went from being an employee to being a patient. It was scary, chaotic, and extremely stressful. I came back to consciousness surrounded by a number of people, what seemed like 100 voices, but it was Maddie's that stood out above the rest. I don't remember much, but I do remember how calm, how controlled, and how caring she was during this life-threatening event. I felt comforted knowing she was there, and I felt like I would survive knowing that she was in control.

It seemed like she was the voice making all of the right decisions. It seemed like she was the one ensuring all of the right pieces were in place, whether it was calling for the EKG, transporting me to the ED, getting IVs in me, or calling ahead to ensure people were ready. I have never experienced an event such as this, being a patient, and it was Maddie who made it a success. I understand that her kindness and compassion didn't end as soon as I left for the Cath lab, but she made sure to check back with the team I left on the 6th floor to ensure my coworkers were okay and taken care of as well. I am very grateful for Maddie, for her kindness, for her knowledge, for her experience, for her compassion, and for her leadership during this difficult experience.
