Maddy went above and beyond her role as an MB float and stepped out of her comfort zone to help us keep our babies safe.
Recently we had a difficult situation in our NICU and Maddy stepped above and beyond her role to help us during this time. We started our night very busy and we had 4 critical patient admissions within one hour. Maddy was a float to our unit, and as an MB nurse has not been cross-trained to care for critical patients. However, she was present and helped with anything she could do. She helped set up rooms and move beds around without hesitation and without being asked she was by my side asking what else she could do. She helped get equipment, passed on messages, and gathered supplies for us. Her help was greatly appreciated as we were trying to admit and stabilize all these patients. Maddy had a great attitude, was proactive, did not back up from an unknown role to her. She especially helped me while trying to care for my patient who was in an oscillator, another patient level 3, and admitting a 3rd patient who needed to go on a ventilator. Maddy went above and beyond her role as an MB float and stepped out of her comfort zone to help us keep our babies safe. She did all of this with a great attitude and without being asked to do so. We all had to work extra hard, adjust to the situation and safely care for our patients. Maddy was a great example of a committed wonderful nurse. She put patients first and was able to safely be part of our team in this crisis mode situation. Thank you, Maddy.
