Madeline's selected nomination involved her commitment to the family of a patient she had previously cared for on Acute Care. While this patient was receiving care at another facility outside of Marshall County, her condition quickly deteriorated. At the time, the facility was not able to transfer or discharge the patient despite her desire to spend her final days near friends and family. Hearing of her former patient's situation, Madeline took action, coordinating a means to get the patient back home. A team member shared, "Madeline had worked a 12 hour shift on Saturday night and had to go back to work on Sunday night, but she spent the time she could have been sleeping and resting helping to get her former patient set up with hospice so she could come home and be with her entire family. That next day, that patient had all of the equipment she would need and was successfully transferred home to be at peace in her final days. While many of the events did not actually happen at our facility, none of this could have been possible if Madeline did not possess the kindness and compassion for patients as she does."
