Madeline consistently demonstrates clear and respectful communication with members of her cohort, faculty, and staff.
Madie is an exemplary student who comes prepared to each and every class with a smile and a positive attitude. She lifts fellow students up, treats faculty, patients, and peers with respect and compassion while pushing herself to reach her potential each and every class period. Madie has generously given her personal time to mentor other students and is gracious and humble in return.

Madeline consistently demonstrates clear and respectful communication with members of her cohort, faculty, and staff. She volunteers her personal time to tutor other students. She is incredibly observant and "checks in" with those around her if they appear to be struggling in any way. She is supportive and unbiased when advocating for anyone in need. Many students and faculty/staff members have remarked on her "nothing is impossible" and a respectful attitude!

Madeline is always kind, considerate, and demonstrates a heart for service. In the words of faculty, "she lifts everyone up." The first to volunteer. She helps tutor her peers and goes above and beyond to care for patients in the clinical setting.

I had the pleasure of working with Madeline Holis this past year. Her level of professionalism is what every nursing instructor strives to teach. Her interactions across the board are respectful and kind.
***
Madie has a warm smile that she shares easily with others. It is a joy to watch as smiles are reciprocated across the faces of her patients and their loved ones. She has a tender heart for children. When a nurse at our local hospital inquired about having a nursing student come to care for her toddler-aged son with spina bifida, it was without hesitation that Madie came to mind. I knew she would take exceptional care of this little boy and that her presence would warm the hearts and ease the minds of parents who were, rightfully so, quite anxious about finding just the right caregiver for their child.
Fast forward to say that the parents are beyond thrilled and grateful. I see this as advocacy. We live in a small rural community with limited resources. Madie has built tremendous trust with this family, much like she has done in every interaction I have had the pleasure of witnessing. Madie is a person who lives her life with an obvious commitment to compassion. Faculty hope to have Madie step into the role of student tutor this coming academic year. We need a student who can be a role model and one that will demonstrate respect for every student who comes in needing support. We know that Madie will be that individual building up the students, aiming to bolster their self-esteem, not just through the acquisition of knowledge, but through her kind and gentle approach. This is also advocacy, by supporting students who may come to our school with limited resources and tools needed for academic success.
