Our son was injured in a fire pit accident. He was life-flighted to RMC Grossman Burn Center. With 3rd degree burns over 80% of his body, he survived 9 days before succumbing to his injuries. During his 9 days at the Burn Center, he received constant care from many wonderful nurses. This nurse is one nurse that stood out to us. She was so compassionate and caring to our son and to us as we helplessly sat by his side. She cared for him nearly every day he was in the Burn Center. On her day off, she came in to assist with his care after a very involved surgery knowing that he would need additional care after the surgery. The entire team and hospital were very vested in caring for him, but she has that extra-special tenderness that put us at ease when he was in her care. She was always very open and honest with our family and took the time needed to address any questions or concerns. She was off work the day that our son passed away but told us she planned to call in to check on him. Unfortunately, we lost him that day, but she came to his memorial service and sent us a very heartfelt sympathy card. She is a DAISY Nurse for her kindness grace, and softheartedness she provides to her patients and their families on every shift.
