Madison was empathetic with this mother, and when she left work, she purchased her basic hygiene items, different clothing items, and slippers to wear on the unit with her own money.
A mother came to the unit to bond with her baby for the first time, due to the baby being transported from another facility and the mother still being inpatient until this time. Madison immediately noticed that the young mother had a lack of support and necessities due to her only having a hospital gown and hospital socks in her possession. After talking with the mother and putting in a social work referral with the NICU social worker, it was indeed confirmed that the mother had limited support and a lack of resources. Madison spoke with this mother and went out of her way to make the mother feel at ease and comfortable during her stay, and Madison always made time to take the mother to the Wee Care room and parent lounge whenever the mother needed due to the mother having no transportation as well. Madison was empathetic with this mother, and when she left work, she purchased her basic hygiene items, different clothing items, and slippers to wear on the unit with her own money. Madison did not even wish for credit for her acts as she did this anonymously and had the unit coordinator give the items to the mother as an anonymous gift. Madison continued to care for the infant and its mother for her entire work week, showing the utmost care and compassion for her.
