All of us in the unit have the utmost respect for her and her work ethic. She is a one-of-a-kind nurse.
In any given task, Madreli accepts the challenge and makes sure that she delivers well. No matter what role you place her, she is a valuable member of the team. She is a relief charge nurse, easy to work with and very helpful in achieving the unit’s goals. She is part of a lot of committees that implement changes for the improvement of patient care and staff satisfaction. She is very active as a unit-based council co-lead, who created a very successful project to improve the bowel management program in our unit and worked hard on developing other ways to improve teaching patients about their medication side effects. She actively attends unit meetings and other committee meetings like the RN-MD collaboration to let the voices of nurses be heard and help improve patient care experience. She’s a valuable part of the skin champions and even comes on her day off to do skin rounding on the patients in the unit. She is an outstanding resource person in our unit and a very valuable nurse here at Kaiser LAMC. All of us in the unit have the utmost respect for her and her work ethic. She is a one-of-a-kind nurse. This year will be her last year working here before she retires, and I think, before that day comes, she deserves a DAISY Award because of her commitment to her unit and her valuable contributions to the improvement of patient care. I don’t know any other nurse who works as hard as her. She is highly respected and praised by her peers and colleagues. She wears many hats: a preceptor, staff nurse, skin champion, unit-based council co-lead, patient advocate, staff advocate, a nurse leader. Truly an exemplary nurse! If there is one nurse who deserves the DAISY Award, it is Madreli Huliganga, RN of NSU!
