K was blessed and prayed over by so many people during our stay. This definitely brought peace to me as her mother, and I am grateful that Maia addressed these questions during our intake...
Maia was our first nurse on the pediatrics unit during my 5-week old daughter's hospital stay. It was very late at night, and my partner and I were very exhausted. Maia did a thorough intake assessment of our K. I've noticed, as a nurse myself, that some nurses skip over questions regarding religious preferences and the more detailed/"less important" questions of an intake assessment in order to get through it quicker. Maia had asked if we had a religious preference and any spiritual or religious concerns. Between dealing with my newborn's health issues and moving back to Michigan from Wyoming, I really have not had time to look into getting her baptized. But as a Catholic, this is something that's important to me and my family. Maia made sure a chaplain came and visited us during our stay, as well as a Catholic priest. Fortunately, I was able to gather some information and get phone numbers for churches in my area. K was blessed and prayed over by so many people during our stay. This definitely brought peace to me as her mother, and I am grateful that Maia addressed these questions during our intake because, without it, we wouldn't have received those extra spiritual blessings during our stay. So, thank you, Maia, for taking your time and not skipping over the little questions when we first arrived here.
