Dear Evaluation Committee,

It is with great pleasure that I nominate Mailyn Almirante for the Nurse Leader. As a nurse educator, we rely heavily on our leadership to commit to the same vision we have for the nurses. Mailyn has always been able to support and lend her ideas in ensuring the nurses’ success in both professional as well as their mental health. Mailyn’s skills, knowledge, willingness to help others, and dedication to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center should be applauded and recognized.

Mrs. Mailyn Almirante is always willing to pitch in for the good of the hospital. She has volunteered in the vaccine clinic, an advocate for the nurses advancing in careers such as Professional Advancement System, certifications, and advances in education. Mailyn’s leadership on the DPod has been a pillar of the success of the pod. She has led the DPod through the transition through the Covid pandemic to some form of normalcy for the staff. She has been completely transparent with the staff when change has arisen. She genuinely cares about each individual staff and assists in the remediation of the agency nurses as well as staff nurses. She is hands-on in the care and safety of all patients. Mailyn has been seen to go into a patient’s room when the call bell or bed alarm has gone off. She’s self-confident and a strong leader but in an unassuming way. Mailyn leads in a manner that can best be described by the hospital’s core value and mission. Her skills, knowledge, willingness to help others, and dedication to NBIMC make her a DAISY Nurse Leader.
