Makenzie really stood out and shined as an exemplary and caring nurse.
My 65-year-old husband was a patient for 1 week. He has been in and out of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center numerous times over the past 12 years. His treatment and care have been superior and the staff have been excellent. Makenzie really stood out and shined as an exemplary and caring nurse. She was very attentive and tended to his multiple needs with a smile on her face, always making sure that he was comfortable. She took time to explain things to my husband and went at his pace.
She remembered things like he had a fractured scapula with a plate in it and that she should do blood pressure on the opposite arm. Making sure his arm was elevated to alleviate more swelling. He was to be turned every 2 hours which she did and did it slowly and tried to alleviate additional pain. She checked very frequently to address incontinence issues and apply meds to prevent sores from getting worse.
The patience she had in explaining things to do when I got him home and how to care for him, this helped ease my anxiety. I know I will feel a little more secure in trying to care for him. The thing that really touched my heart was when I arrived in the morning, she had fed him his breakfast as he can not do this for himself. She should be celebrated for her excellent care of her patients.
