I want to tell you about 17978. You might think it’s a just a random number. And if you work in CARE, you know it is an employee ID, but to me, it was a strong, smart, capable woman. She is a kind and sweet person who assisted me and supported me during my stay in CARE. I will never forget on the first day post-surgery when I tried to walk and my blood pressure dropped. She was calm and collected but moved swiftly to aid me. She made sure my companion and I were calm and guided us the whole time. I was scared and couldn’t control my body in addition to the pain I was feeling. However, my companion (my mother) was a completely different story as she freaked out and panicked. She remained poise but firm, instructing us. Having her as my nurse was a blessing and we were very grateful and lucky to have her. She guided me to the nearest place to lie down and made sure I wasn’t bending over or hurting myself or my wounds. She ensured my head was in a good position. She connected the IV fluid in my arm all while talking to me and my mother through everything. She hooked up the blood pressure measurement, dealing with the situation with ease and confidence. She was always very patient and helpful. She was also very careful and considerate with everything. I genuinely appreciate all her help and support through this difficult, sensitive time. She was constantly smiling and helpful. Thanks a lot to you, you are not just a nurse, you are a hero. I admire you, wishing you the best of luck moving forward.
