Malea Drummond has received two nominations from parents who wanted to recognize her cheerful demeanor and helpfulness. One parent simply wrote that Malea was "made to be a Peds RN!" This statement reflects the caring approach in her practice. Another parent had the benefit of Malea's care throughout her Day Surgery/PACU experience. The mother stated: "Malea was the nurse that we saw after the pre-registration area. She was respectful and worked collegially with the doctors and anesthesiologist. After my son's 4-hour procedure, Malea was the first smiling face we saw when we entered the PACU. Malea was also our nurse in the step-down area. She made sure that my husband had a more comfortable chair, since we had a 6-hour stay. She allowed me to use the phone to update family members and was all in all a pleasant person."
Malea is known for her cheerful attitude. She is a self-motivated, hard worker who is very reliable. Malea continues to grow in her role as a nurse and has become a preceptor and PACU charge nurse. She is very involved in the PeriOperative Shared Governance Council and the hospital wide Nursing Informatics Committee. She is also currently pursuing her DNP in Family Practice. Malea is an extraordinary nurse who will continue to grow in her role and provide excellent care to patients and families.
