Mami's calming words and gentle touch let me know that she would not leave my side until I felt everything would be all right.
There were complications with my spinal fusion that I had and I was again on the 16th floor, Neuro/Trauma. Oddly enough, many of the nurses recognized me and I was taken care of by familiar faces. One of your nurses, Mami Kinoshita, was my night nurse for the first time. I was awakened in the middle of the night with an excruciating headache on half my head, with numbness and heat. I was so scared and convinced I was having a stroke. Mami came when I called, and her calming words and gentle touch let me know that she would not leave my side until I felt everything would be all right. The neurologist was called, and she held my hand and never let go until he arrived. Some people are called to nursing and Mami is one of those extraordinary people whose compassion for others shines through in everything she does.
