It takes a special kind of person to become a nurse but, it takes an amazing person to become the type of nurse Marcia is. Marcia is the most caring, involved nurse in our hospital. Marcia does everything within her means to build up the unit so that each nurse can take care of their patients to their fullest potential. There are so many stories that qualify Marcia for the DAISY Award but, the most recent one is when Marcia cooked an entire benefit dinner to help a patient on the first floor who had become ill and could no longer pay her bills. Marcia is truly an amazing person and her ability to extend the healing ministry of Christ is truly touching. Marcia has taken me under her wing and sits with me in church so I am not alone. The beauty that Marcia has brought to the 5th-floor unit can be seen almost any time of the year because Marcia uses her own finances to decorate the floor so that employees, patients, and families will feel more at home while having to endure such a difficult time in their life.
