Marcy truly seemed to care. While my mother was still conscious Marcy was respectful, gentle, and careful.
My mother was brought to the ED via ambulance ultimately diagnosed with c.diff. After she was stabilized, due to DNR, she was transferred to the 8th floor. Marcy introduced herself and was wonderful with my mother, father, and myself. As my mother (92) was septic, Marcy was sure to keep protocol but politely – she was extraordinarily attentive with my mother – who required multiple changes, bathing, IVs, etc. She was gentle where my mother had a sore, answered many questions, and could not have been more respectful as my mother passed and afterward she truly seemed to care. While my mother was still conscious Marcy was respectful and gentle and careful not to embarrass her any further than she already was. My father has been an inpatient at VHC many times and even during his shock and grief asked me to please submit this for Marcy. My mother was admitted on her birthday and Marcy even noted that to all. We could not have asked for a better experience on the 8th floor all the way. If only all death could be as wonderful as my mother’s was!
