I had a surprise open heart bypass at age of 59. My anxiety was high and so many things were happening so fast. My husband and sons were almost in shock. We were blessed both before and after my surgery to have a day nurse named Meggie.
Her patience in making sure we understood every step of the way, her calmness and thoroughness in my care, her attentiveness to my comfort, and her assuredness in my after-surgery care made all the difference. But mostly, it was the way she locked eyes with me and held my hands when I was having a scary complication, that calmed me and let me know I would be okay.
It changed this very scary moment for me into a moment of confidence and comfort, brought by Meggie. She is a gift to Christ Heart Center and my family.
