When asked to provide kind words and qualities that this nurse embodies to deserve a DAISY Award, the response from all who work alongside her were numerous and spoke of her true nature. Maria Blue embodies many qualities of a great leader, nurse, and friend. She leads by example and truly helps others feel better about their work by having a collected and experienced nature. She is always willing to lend a helping hand during the night shifts when staffing is a burden on many and never complains about chipping in for those in need. She is always starting ultrasound IV lines throughout the hospital when asked and never ceases to amaze with all the skills that she possesses to help her co-workers.

Maria is a compassionate nurse who ensures that our patients are given the best care, and makes sure matters are handled safely throughout the night when most of us are sleeping in our homes. She truly cares about the staff, patients, and families that have been entrusted to our care. She is always willing to listen to patient complaints and help resolve issues before the next shift arrives and she never hesitates to be the mediator in tough situations.

Lastly, Maria is a great friend to many, and its evident by all the wonderful thoughts and expressions of gratitude that the workers on night shift had to say about her. Lourdes is lucky to have a nurse and leader like Maria making sure things run efficiently and smoothly at night and keeping everyone’s best interest in the forefront of all she does.
